JOHANNESBURG – The Special Court granted the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) an order to freeze the pension benefits of former Lepelle Northern Water CEO Phineas Legodi.

It is being investigated by the Giyani water project that was to benefit 50 villages.

On Monday, the Public Protector published a report on the state project, saying the tender was awarded irregularly.

The SIU said it intended to submit a formal request to the court to recover losses suffered by the state as a result of the alleged irregular award of the contract.

Spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago: “SIU is pleased to announce that we have successfully applied to the court to grant us an order to freeze the pension of Mr. Legodi, who is the former CEO of Lepelle Water. This is as a result of the previous order It expired on November 24, 2020. Since then, we have reinstated the matter and the order was granted to us on December 17, 2020. “
