According to police, the 85-year-old man was killed on December 12 at a farm in Otto’s Bluff, Cramond, after the attackers allegedly entered the farm at night but took nothing.
“He suffered an open head wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspects fled the scene after the incident.
“Nothing was taken from the house. A murder case was opened for investigation by Cramond SAPS. The file was assigned to the provincial Organized Crime Unit which took over the investigation,” the police spokesman said Monday, Colonel Thembeka Mbele, in a statement.
Mbele said the suspects were traced to an area in Cramond where they were arrested on Dec. 18.
“Four suspects were arrested in the Cramond area. A hunting knife suspected of being used in the commission of the crime was found in the possession of a suspect,” Mbele said, adding that they would appear in New Hanover Magistrates Court on Monday.
