Cyberpunk 2077 players claim that their save files get corrupted when they reach a certain size, according to a Eurogamer report.

Initially reported to affect all platforms, the issue now appears to be limited to the PC versions of the game.

Users have reported that they get a “Save data is corrupted and cannot be loaded” error message when they try to upload save files 8MB or larger in size.

Although developer CD Projekt Red has not confirmed the cause or extent of the issue, it has explained that there is no way to recover Cyberpunk 2077 saves once they become corrupted, which means that players will lose all their progress to the starting point.

In a response posted on the GOG website, he recommended keeping a smaller number of crafting items and materials to reduce the size of saved files.

Also, it recommended that those who have exploited the game item duplication bug upload a save file that is not affected by it.

CDPR added that a future patch may increase the save file size limit, but “corrupted files will stay that way.”

Mass launch issues

The launch of Cyberpunk 2077 has met with a massive backlash from many of the game’s early buyers.

Shares of CDPR tumbled after waves of reports from disgruntled gamers about numerous bugs and serious glitches, particularly on older PS4 and Xbox One consoles.

These included the game being displayed in extremely low resolution, pixels just not loading properly, and large frame rate drops and stuttering in game.

As a result, the company was forced to offer refunds to customers, the issues being so significant for PS4 players that Sony has removed the game from the PlayStation Store.

A recent report Bloomberg described an internal video meeting between the CDPR board and the game development team on December 17 as “hostile.”

Frustrated staff interrogated the company’s board of directors with blunt questions about the game’s unrealistic timelines and the overtime it takes. until its release, as well as why the company told the public that the game was ready and playable in early 2020.
