Leicester City hero Gary Linker has reacted to his former team’s excellent 2-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur.

City were left with a 2-0 win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium thanks to a goal by Jamie Vardy and an own goal by Toby Alderweireld

As a result, Brendan Rodgers’s men have moved above Spurs and into second place behind Liverpool with a four-point gap separating them from Jurgen Klopp’s men.

City are now two points clear of Tottenham in fifth place and bounced back from a surprise 2-0 loss to Everton at King Power Stadium last time out.

It’s reminiscent of last season when City raced close to Liverpool in the opening stages of the season, but the champions would eventually walk away and canter.

With his tongue firmly on his cheek, Lineker was pleased to see three of his former clubs taking places in the top four of the Premier League table.

But he wants something done with the leaders before they take the title again.

“Leicester, Everton and Spurs in the top 4. How wonderful. But what can we do with Liverpool?” he asked on social media.

Meanwhile, Rodgers was happy to finally get over his old mentor, José Mourinho, after the match.

“At least you won’t have to ask any more about that,” he said at a post-match press conference.

“I have great respect for José, with what he has won in the game. He is an incredible tactician.

“You know when you’ve beaten one of their teams, you’ve really had to work. I thought, tactically, the players were exceptional.

“We’ve seen Tottenham all season and how dangerous he is and how difficult it is to play against him, and I thought we nullified that threat really well. We can also play our soccer, which was very nice. “
