With 25 players, including the four who are new additions to the roster of women’s national teams, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced the squad of which Proteas women The team will be selected for the Pakistan Women’s entrance tour in Durban from January 7, 2021 to February 4, 2021.
The Proteas will head to training ground January 8-14, 2021 led by Head Coach Hilton Moreeng. The final team will be announced on January 15 along with the emerging team from South Africa who will play Pakistan in a preparation match.
The team includes newcomers Nobulumko Baneti, Evodia Yekile, Jenay Winster and Khayakazi Mathe, who performed with poise at the recent T20 Women’s Super League held in Cape Town.
Twenty-one of the 25 players have previous international experience and the group includes seasoned activists such as Shabnim Ismail, Laura Wolvaardt and Ayabong Khaka, who showed their maturity and led with distinction in the WSLT20 competition.
“I am very happy to arrive at training camp in January and working with all the players who have been selected to attend training camp in Durban,” Moreeng said.
“We have an excellent mix of veteran Proteas and some exciting young players who are incredibly talented.
“Personally, I am grateful for the opportunity to return to international cricket and the commitment of our players to continue, and the enthusiasm of new players to get involved.
“Selecting 18 players from this group will be extremely difficult. But I hope to get involved with all the players, representing our country and doing it in a way that all the Cricket fans in our country come together. “
The Proteas team will arrive in Ethekwini on January 8 to prepare for the Pakistan women’s team, the first meeting being the one-day international match on January 23 in Durban.
