Roberto Firmino sends a message to the Liverpool fans

Roberto Firmino has returned to his devastating prime.

The Brazilian forward has three goals and one assist in his previous two matches, as Liverpool advanced six points clear at the Premier League summit.

The 7-0 win at Crystal Palace was arguably the most important statement Firmino and the Reds have made to the rest of the league so far this season.

Even when injured, this Liverpool machine is still the team to beat.

And the paradox of all this was that Liverpool could still have played better.

Firmino was involved in Sadio Mane’s first goal since Oct. 17, scoring his attacking teammate with a beautifully disguised pass before the Senegalese passed Vicente Guaita to make it 2-0.

He also pocketed a magnificent double to bring his league tally for the season to five goals, just over half of what he achieved last season.

Firmino celebrated the biggest league win of the Jurgen Klopp era with a message to fans on social media.

In this match, Firmino enjoyed 42 touches and scored two shots at the targets, both converted.

It was Liverpool’s ninth league win of the season and was by far their most convincing in 2020/21.

Talk about an early Christmas present: For the third year in a row, Liverpool will be at the top of the Premier League tree on December 25.

It also ended a troubling road record, which before the trip to Selhurst Park, saw the Reds with just one league win in six road games.

It was the Reds’ biggest win since at PL in six months; Ironically, that particular win was also against Palace during a 4-0 win at Anfield in June.

While it’s great to see the team dominate from an attacking sense, it was especially encouraging to see Liverpool win the easy way, rather than throwing fans into an emotional uproar like they did against Spurs in the middle of the week.

It has put Liverpool and Klopp in a position of sufficient strength ahead of a much-needed eight-day rest period for the English champions.
