As the ruling party, the ANC is responsible for guiding the government on what programs it should focus on during the year.
“We limit attendance to 100 people in the main plenary and we will connect to all provinces via video link to ensure regulations are not undermined in any way.
“The normal movement of provincial buses and hundreds of people coming to one place will not take place next year,” Duarte said.
The main celebration on January 8 will be preceded by reinforcement activities between January 5 and 7.
These will include visits to the royal houses of the province, meeting with religious leaders and sector formations, a presidential golf day and engagement with sectors of the community, said Duarte.
Only a few ANC officials led by Ramaphosa will be in Limpopo, while other national and provincial leaders will be tasked with organizing the celebrations in the country’s provinces.
“On January 8, it presents the ANC and the nation with the opportunity to take stock of the progress made and reflect on the path that still remains to be traveled,” said Duarte.
“It is a time to dedicate ourselves to the unity and renewal of our movement and to intensify our search for radical socio-economic transformation.”
