A taxi and a truck collided near Vereeniging, killing three people on the R59.
Three people were killed and seven injured, most of them children, after a taxi and a truck collided near Vereeniging in the early hours of Friday.
Paramedics were called to the scene on the R59 between Sasolburg and Vereeniging, where they found a taxi overturned on its side and a truck parked near it.
“On closer inspection, doctors found an adult lying inside the taxi while other people, including five children, were lying around the taxi. Doctors evaluated the patients and found that three adults had suffered fatal injuries. he was able to do nothing for them, and they were pronounced dead, “said ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring.

Five children and two adults suffered minor to moderate injuries and were taken to the Sasolburg Provincial Hospital.
Meiring said police were at the scene investigating the cause of the accident.
