Gauteng Licensing Offices on the Move

JOHANNESBURG – There may be an easier way for Gauteng drivers to renew their driver’s licenses.

Starting next year, Gautrain buses converted to full licensing offices will be available to process renovations.

Many motorists have been frustrated by the online registration process, which they are labeling as a failure.

More than 30,000 drivers have not been able to renew their licenses due to the lockdown.

But by February next year, they will be able to use one of the buses.

Gauteng’s Department of Roads and Transportation believes these new mobile test centers could be the solution to the huge backlog of orders.

The department says it is also streamlining its online registration process.

Motorists whose licenses have expired during the lockdown will have until the end of August 2021 to renew them.

But the province is optimistic that it will eliminate the delays before then.
