Hotels, lodges and resorts can now operate at full capacity – The Citizen

The Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, modified the regulations published on Tuesday, which will now see certain establishments operating at full capacity.

In accordance with the modified regulations, as of December 17, hotels, hostels, bed and breakfasts, timeshare facilities, resorts and guesthouses can now operate at full capacity of the rooms available for accommodation, with clients observing a distance of at least 1.5 meters from each other when they are in common spaces.

Conference, dining, entertainment and bar facilities are limited to a maximum of 100 people or less for a meeting indoors, and 250 people or less when meeting outdoors.

If the place is too small to accommodate 100 people observing a distance of at least 1.5 meters from each other, no more than 50% of the capacity of the place can be used.

Loud music, whether live or otherwise, is prohibited.

Closing time for religious institutions, places where social events are held, cinemas, theaters, casinos, gyms, gyms and swimming pools, restaurants, bars, taverns, shebeens and similar establishments and any other place where a meeting may take place, either in Indoor or outdoor, it is at 9pm every day.

The closing time in the regulations published on Tuesday was 10:00 p.m.

Initiation practices are still banned nationally, except in the Eastern Cape, excluding Nelson Mandela Bay and Sarah Baartman district.

Previous regulations did not include Sarah Baartman’s district.

Registered wineries and wine farms may continue to operate offering tastings and sale of wine to the public for consumption off-site, subject to strict compliance with the planned curfew and strict compliance with social distancing measures and health protocols.

The sale of alcohol is still restricted from 10am to 6pm Monday to Thursday.
