CAPE TOWN – Cape Town will face Police Minister Bheki Cele.
The minister stopped filming an international television commercial on Camps Bay beach, saying it was a violation of lockdown regulations.
That was earlier this week.

The company had a three-day filming permit and lost millions of rand after Cele went offline.
Cele insists, however, that while the film company may have a permit from Cape Town City, the production did not comply with what is allowed on beaches as stipulated in COVID-19 regulations.
He did not elaborate on the transgression.

The city says the film company has complied with all permits and protocols.
According to regulations, festivals, live music, or live performances are not allowed on the beaches that are open.
But the city says that filming is not a recreational activity, it is work and it is allowed.

It adds that it contributes billions of rand to the Western Cape economy.
Now the city is turning to the Cape High Court to seek an urgent request to ban the minister from preventing film shoots from taking place on Cape Town’s beaches.
