  • The film already had to halt production earlier this year when Covid-19 began to spread.
  • Cruise reportedly reacted to two people who were closer than security guidelines allow. He threatened to fire them if he saw it happen again.

The team behind “Mission: Impossible 7” was forced to halt production earlier this year due to Covid-19 regulations and resumed in September with security measures in place.

New leaked audio released by British tabloid The Sun captures franchise star Tom Cruise angrily yelling at crew members at Warner Bros. studios in the UK after Covid security rules were broken -19.

“And if you don’t, you’re fired,” he says in the audio. “I see you do it again, you’re … gone.”

He goes on apparently pointing at various other individuals, making his point clear to a larger group.

“No apologies,” says Cruise. “You can tell people that you are losing their damn homes because our industry is closed. You are not going to put food on your table or pay for your college education.”

Two sources close to the production confirmed to Variety that he was the voice of Cruise on the recording.

Representatives for Cruise and Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, England, did not immediately respond to Insider’s request for comment.

“He was enraged after seeing two crew members standing six feet from each other,” the Sun reported.

A statement on the Warner Bros. Studios website in Leavesden says that “the well-being of our customers and colleagues is our primary concern” in a Covid-19 health and safety information section.

“I’m on the phone with all the damn studios at night, the insurance companies, the producers, and they’re watching us and using us to make their movies,” Cruise says on the Sun’s audio. “We’re creating thousands of jobs, you son of a bitch …”

At one point, his voice rises even higher when he says, “We’re not closing this damn movie!”

Film and television show production has resumed in the US with security measures such as face covering and social distancing mandates. Even with established guidelines, Covid-19 outbreaks have still occurred.

Last week, a CBS studio building in Los Angeles was the source of sixteen cases, according to Variety.

Cruise has been a public defender of the film industry in the wake of the effect of Covid-19 on studios, cinemas, and more. During the summer, posted a video on Twitter showing his experience going to a cinema in the UK to see “Tenet”.

“It’s great to be back in a movie theater, everyone,” he says in the video.
