Cricket South Africa (CSA) coordinator of selectors, Victor Mpitsang, said Pretorius has made a case for the Knights.
“We are delighted to include Migael in the Proteas Test team for the Sri Lanka series. We are great at rewarding consistent good work and the player has done a lot to defend himself,” he said.
“We hope that this experience will be a great learning experience for him and that it can serve as an encouragement for players across the country, showing them that their chances may not be as far as they think.”
The Proteas will gather in Pretoria on Saturday, December 19, to begin their preparation for the opening of the Test in Centurion on December 26.
CSA also revealed that Proteas fast launcher Kagiso Rabada and off-roader Dwain Pretorius have yet to receive medical clearance to participate in the tour.
