EPL WK13 predictions By Dan Smith
I thought I would give my EPL midweek predictions, but let me emphasize that this is not part of the League predictions as I thought it was not enough time to give a warning.
Be careful though, we will be predicting all the games for the Christmas period.
As I know people including editor will be busy over Christmas but feel free to email me via JustArsenal and they will forward or leave a reply to this post …
Get ready for a few weeks of Klopp complaining about how many games are being played …
Wolves 1-2 Chelsea
Chelsea hit the wood a few times at Goodison and it was just one of those nights, nothing to worry about. Frank Lampard says the team isn’t ready for a title challenge, it’s just him trying to keep his team under the radar. Wolves are not prolific enough yet.
Man City 4-0 West Bromwich
Yes, the Manchester Derby was hard to watch, but I’ve never seen a City team go through such a difficult time getting a draw at Old Trafford. People say it doesn’t look like the old city. Maybe it’s because your Vincent Kompany and David Silva don’t grow on trees?
West Bromwich struggled defensively the moment Newcastle decided to attack, so I don’t see how they will manage at the Etihad.
Arsenal 1-2 Saints
They told us that moving to the Emirates meant that we would compete with Bayern Munich. As I write this in December 2020, we are the losers at home in Southampton! (and you wonder why I question our owner).
There is a lack of confidence at the moment and the only way to go back is by getting a win somewhere and building from there.
I felt very sorry for Arteta on Sunday. The moment he was shown the red card, he knew that it could cost him his job. Xhaka cost us, but I don’t want it to overshadow how poor we were.
I don’t want him to, but Arteta will be caught if his tactic to solve this continues to be aimlessly crossing the ball into the box. Those who wanted Arsene Wenger out, how green is your lawn right now?
Leeds 1-1 Newcastle
Comparing the spirit of Bielsa with that of Steve Bruce is like comparing Coke with Coke Zero. However, Newcastle have a habit of staying in games and finding ways to get results, plus it’s not difficult to score against Leeds. Basically Bruce is good at what he does.
Leicester 3-1 Everton
What did I say on the weekend? If a field with minimal fans could make a difference, it would be Goodison. Another day, though Chelsea would have taken her chances. They both have strong XIs, but not great squads to tackle the Christmas schedule.
Fulham 2-0 Brighton
Not known for having the most vocal fan base, I felt that the Fulham 2000 fans made a difference by holding the Champions League. They realize they have a young coach and a team that is above their weight, that they need all the encouragement. The advantage is that they will not turn against your team like others who are near the bottom.
Liverpool 2-0 Spurs
Jose’s tactics worked against Chelsea and even Man City, but parking the bus at Anfield? Finally, Salah and Mane will punish you. I can’t stand the Spurs being first at the table on Christmas Day!
West Ham 0-1 Palace
I have never liked West Ham when they are the favorites at home. I think his big field will suit the visitors’ counterattack football. Even if there are only 2000 in the London Stadium, it won’t take long for fans to start complaining.
Villa 1-0 Burnley
Burnley didn’t even have to be that good to win at Arsenal for the first time in the Premiership. While Sean Dyche claims his team looks like it used to, on Thursday they will face a team that won’t just cross the ball. The likes of Jack Grealish will really stand up to their man and be creative.
Sheffield United 1-3 Man United
Well, after their performance on Sunday, Sheffield United can no longer say they are unlucky. Ole clearly had the mindset to avoid defeat against City, then there is a winnable game on Thursday. It’s still strange to see Man United meet the standards they’re playing at 0-0 at Old Trafford.
Still, feel free to enter your EPL predictions, but remember this will not count towards the League.
