JOHANNESBURG – Two hundred and ten more people have died in South Africa after contracting the coronavirus.
These latest deaths bring the national death toll to 23,661.
On Tuesday, the Health Department also said 7,552 new infections were detected during the previous day, bringing the known number of cases since the outbreak began to more than 873,000.
Gauteng still accounts for the majority of these cases, followed by the Western Cape and Eastern Cape, with KwaZulu-Natal not far behind.
Almost 765,000 people have recovered from the virus so far.
