The football community has been in mourning once again after Mamelodi Sundowns defender Motjeka Madisha was killed in a car accident Sunday morning. The defender appeared 130 times by the Tshwane giants and had become a mainstay of the Bafana Bafana squad, before the tragedy struck.

His death comes a few weeks after his former partner Anele Ngcongca died in similar circumstances. Colleagues from the PSL, current professionals and even the South African Union of Soccer Players have shared their condolences.

Mamelodi Sundowns has tweeted a message about Motjeka Madisha’s death, but did not elaborate. They called the public disclosure of information about his death “regrettable”, and the club confirmed that they will publish their own statement on Sunday afternoon.
Images from the accident scene in Midrand were also posted online overnight. The car used by Motjeka Madisha burst into flames after the impact, and it is understood that another occupant of the vehicle was also killed.
