Afrikaans singer Kurt Darren’s family is safe after being involved in a car accident in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday afternoon.
Talking with him Record On Saturday morning, Darren said his wife, Dunay, with their two children, ages four and six, his wife’s mother and aunt were a bit shocked after the accident.
The car they collided with was seriously damaged.
“I am glad my family is safe and no one was injured in the car accident that left the other car in bad shape. I am relieved, ”he said.
Darren said his family was heading on vacation when they were involved in the car accident on Friday afternoon. He had to attend a show in Johannesburg.
“They left early yesterday (Friday) morning, when they got to the place where the accident happened there was a slow trip, my wife says then she saw a car driving at high speed and veered off the road, the car, however, I hit my wife’s car in the back. She was knocked unconscious a bit after the accident, but luckily everyone is safe and no one was hurt. “
Darren, however, said after his family received help from emergency services.
They were stranded for hours on the side of the road after the accident happened when their car was towed by a truck.
“I felt a bit desperate being here in Johannesburg while my family was stranded on the side of the road without help.
“The police and the tow truck driver helped my family and took them to a car rental service, which was already closed, but the police were able to help them. I am grateful to Captain Dolf Otto, who took my family under his wings and made sure they received help. “
Darren, who was involved in a serious car accident in 2013, said he was traumatized by the news that the accident was so far from his family.
“My wife is very strong, but anyone who is involved in a car accident knows that it affects you in some way.”
After renting a car, Darren said the family continued their journey to their destination.
“I would like to urge everyone to practice road safety this holiday season, there are many people driving in many ways, please try to be alert at all times on the road.”
