Almost 1,000 Rage festival attendees tested positive for Covid-19.
- The Gauteng health department has located 1,322 matrix revelers who attended a rabies event in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal. At least 1,050 of them have been tested for Covid-19.
- 984 of them tested positive and of their 340 contacts, 32 tested positive.
- The health authorities urged the students to cooperate and present themselves for tests and isolate themselves for 10 days according to Covid19 protocols.
Gauteng’s health department has said 1,322 matrix rabies revelers have been identified, and 984 of them tested positive for Covid-19.
Groups of festival goers, who attended the annual rage events in KwaZulu-Natal and the Western Cape, were located and identified in Johannesburg and Pretoria.
“Of the 1,322 students in the main districts of Johannesburg and Tshwane, 1,050 have already been tested for Covid-19. Of these, 984 tested positive. These students had 340 contacts, of which 32 tested positive.” said department spokesman Kwera Kekana. it said in a statement Sunday.

The department was concerned about uncooperative students as healthcare workers continue to trace contacts. At least 99 students were uncooperative, while another 173 had provided incorrect or unavailable contact information.
“We call on those who attended the rabies event to self-quarantine for 14 days and undergo emergency testing. Those who test positive must be isolated for a mandatory 10 days,” Kekana said.
