Clarify or otherwise, Eskom tells companies involved in looting

Meanwhile, Justice Minister Ronald Lamola, who joined Eskom, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and his public company counterpart, Pravin Gordhan, in a joint briefing on Friday, applauded the SIU for this breakthrough, saying it was the largest in SIU history.

Gordhan urged other companies and companies to follow in ABB’s footsteps, particularly those entities that were involved in the state capture.

“We must congratulate ABB management for their voluntary disclosure. I think this is an important signal to other companies that if they have been involved, intentionally or otherwise, in any form of corruption or undermining the integrity, governance or operation or financial status of public companies, now is the time to take a step forward. “Gordhan said.

Gordhan also praised the scope of the investigations.

In ABB’s investigations, the FBI in the US was also cornered.

“So while you may be able to hide certain things in South Africa, there are other agencies that are involved in this process and they will certainly have a deep interest in what is happening in our country,” Gordhan added.
