RB Leipzig defender and informed Liverpool target Ibrahima Konate reacted to a tweet during Tuesday’s 3-2 win over Manchester United, and Reds supporters love it.

The 21-year-old Konate is a possible defensive target for Jurgen Klopp, according to Bild, and recently responded to some images of him and United striker Mason Greenwood.

The clip shows the penalty incident in which an entanglement between the Frenchman and Greenwood resulted in the United striker going down a bit theatrically.

To Konate’s surprise, Bruno Fernandes kicked and duly converted when Leipzig received a late scare from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team.

A Liverpool fan posted the footage, claiming that if Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah had gone down so easily, the media would have collapsed.

Konate quoted the tweet with a short caption with nothing more than an ellipsis that perfectly reflected what he thought of the decision to impose a penalty.

Fortunately for the defendant central defender, the penalty proved inexpensive, as Leipzig advanced through the knockout stages of the Champions League at United’s expense.

Konate’s decision to respond to the footage shows that he doesn’t want the incident to be lightly forgotten, and several Liverpool fans have flocked to the defense of the towering 6-foot-4 center-back.

If Liverpool want to make a move for Konate, then the Reds will have to be prepared to spend a lot.

According to SportBild, the France U21 international has a 50 million euro (£ 45 million) buyout clause in his contract with Leipzig, as does fellow central defender Dayot Upamecano, who is also on Liverpool’s radar. .
