JOHANNESBURG – Matrics will not rewrite math and physics two next week.

The Pretoria High Court overturned Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga’s decision to order a rewrite after documents were found to have been leaked ahead of exams.

The court found the decision to be illegal and irregular.

Afriforum, Sadtu and others took the Department of Basic Education to court to challenge the rewrite.

Last week, Minister Angie Motshekga announced that the two documents would be rewritten on December 15 and 17.

Sadtu’s secretary general, Mugwena Maluleke, said the news is good for the students and said it would be irresponsible for the department to challenge the ruling.

Department spokesman Elijah Mahlangu tweeted, “The Basic Education Department is currently studying and processing the sentence internally. At the right time, a statement will be issued with a response soon. No further comment for now.
