Zambian football coach Milutin Sredojević, better known as Michu, has been released on bail of 10,000 rand after appearing in court in a sexual assault case.

The 51-year-old, who previously trained the Orlando Pirates and several other African nations, appeared in New Brighton magistrates court in Port Elizabeth on Friday morning, the National Tax Authority (NPA) said.

According to a statement from NPA, Sredojević was attending a Cosafa soccer tournament at Wolfson Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Monday when a woman delivering coffee asked if the coach would like sugar with his drink.

“He allegedly said no and revealed that he needed another type of sugar while pointing out his private parts,” said Anelisa Ngcakani of the NPA.

The woman later complained to her boss, who warned Sredojević not do it again.

“Later that day, the lady went to deliver coffee again to the same stadium and this time Sredojević supposedly touched her buttocks, ”Ngcakani said.

Then a case was opened.

The court granted Sredojević Bail of 10,000 rand, and ordered him to appear again in court on 25 February next year.
