Police Officer and Wife Arrested in Relation to Shepherd Bushiri’s R500K Payment

A police brigadier and his wife surrendered to the police in connection with an alleged 500,000 rand bribe involving the self-proclaimed prophet Shepherd Bushiri.

The man, 46, and his wife, 50, turned themselves in to the Hawks.

“The couple turned themselves in to the Crime Priority Investigation Directorate team, tasked with investigating criminal activities related to Prophet Shepherd Bushiri.

“His arrest warrants were authorized yesterday in connection with an amount of R500,000 that was allegedly paid to the brigadier,” said Hawks spokesman Colonel Katlego Mogale.

The couple are expected to appear soon in Pretoria Magistrates Court on charges of corruption and thwarting the ends of justice.
