Willian linked with Arsenal’s early departure while Mikel Arteta delivers an update on Thomas Partey

Here’s his morning recap of Arsenal on Thursday, December 10.

Betis is interested in Willian

Spanish club Real Betis could be interested in signing Arsenal winger Willian in January, according to El Gol Digital (via Sport Witness).

Betis winger Joaquín is ‘very close’ to retiring at the end of the 2020/21 season, and if that happens, then the La Liga team would be interested in signing Willian.

The seasoned Brazilian only joined the Gunners in the summer after leaving Chelsea at the end of the 2019/20 campaign, and he’s got off to a slow start at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal officials are considering letting the 32-year-old go when the January transfer window opens, and if that’s the case, then Betis would consider signing the former Chelsea star.

Update on Partey de Arteta’s injury

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Thomas Partey “will miss the next matches” following a thigh injury against Tottenham Hotspur.

Partey was withdrawn in the 2-0 loss to Spurs after suffering a recurring thigh problem, after he was the surprise of being included in Arteta’s lineup for the North London derby.

In his pre-game press conference before the Europa League clash against Dundalk, Arteta said: “(He) will miss the next matches.

“He did incredibly well and was very confident. We tried him three times and he had no incidents. In football there are a lot of unpredictable actions.”

Joorabchian Responds to Carragher’s Comments

Agent Kia Joorabchian has responded to Jamie Carragher following his comments on the Arsenal transfers.

Carragher said that some of Arteta’s signings with the Gunners, including Willian, David Luiz and Cedric, were a “joke” and asked if Joorabchian was making the signings at the club.

The agent said: “I am very surprised that Jamie is one of the people who monopolizes the comments of Sky Sports. The producers of Sky Sports pay him a lot of money, so I cannot understand why he does not verify his data before he speaks.

“The fact is, I had nothing to do with the signing of Willian. If Jamie had bothered to consult with Mikel [Arteta] or [technical director] Edu, they would have said that Mikel showed up three different times to convince Willian to be his number one signing at Arsenal. “
