Mesut Ozil and Piers Morgan have resumed their war of words on Twitter after the Good Morning Britain host accused the German of being the club’s Paul Pogba.
Ozil has been out of play at Arsenal since March, yet he remains one of the club’s top earners at £ 350,000 per week.
Mikel Arteta used it initially, but the Spaniard soon realized the same thing that Unai Emery sent him to the bench: lack of effort off the ball.
Arteta no longer thinks of the German midfielder, and he was not even signed up by the club to play in the Premier League or Europa League this season.
Ozil took to Twitter to post about fans returning to the stadium with a picture of himself at a game for the club, when the stadiums were allowed to be full.
The German tweeted: “The feeling of having fans behind you … #grateful #bestfans #hardtimes”
Morgan responded by reproaching him for being Arsenal’s Pogba, tweeting: “Real Arsenal fans are not after you. You are our Paul Pogba: hugely overpaid, hugely underperforming, and surprisingly over-inflated sense of your own importance. #truth”
The war of words didn’t stop there when Ozil responded with: “Piers, friend, are you still bitter about the other day? It seems that you are not a big fan of the world champions.
“I wish you could see as well as you hear things”
Morgan responded to the German with:
“Mesut, ‘friend’, is far from being a World Champion to having only one game on Play Station. Enjoy your day.”
