- The case against three policemen accused of homicide Nateniël Julies on August 26 has been postponed again in the Protea Magistrates Court.
- Two of the cops appeared in person before Judge David Mhango, while the other appeared via AVR from Johannesburg prison.
- In her affidavit during her request for bail, Agent Caylene Whiteboy said she was the one who fired the fatal shot that killed Julies.
The case against three police officers accused of killing Nateniël Julies on 26 August has again been postponed in the Protea Court of First Instance.
Two of the police officers, Sergeant Voster Netshiongolo and Sheriff Caylene Whiteboy, appeared in person before Magistrate David Mhango, while their co-defendant, Sergeant Simon Scorpion Ndyalvane, appeared via AVR (Audio-Visual Remind) from prison in Johannesburg.
In her affidavit during her request for bail, Whiteboy said she was the one who fired the fatal shot that killed Julies.
He claimed that he thought the gun was loaded with rubber bullets, not live ammunition that had been declared illegal by the police.

Whiteboy said Ndyalvane handed him the shotgun after it had been used earlier to disperse a crowd in Freedom Park, outside Eldorado Park.
Magistrate David Mhango denied bail to the three defendants.

Whiteboy was ordered to stay in a safe place, while Ndyalvane and Netshiongolo remained in prison.
Ndyalvane and Whiteboy face charges of murder, annulment of the purposes of justice, possession of prohibited ammunition and firing a firearm in public.
Netshiongolo faces charges of post-murder murder, annulment of the purpose of justice and possession of prohibited ammunition.

Netshiongolo submitted a new application for bail last week and is expected to return to court on December 14 for his application to be judged.
Mhango told Netshiongolo that he was not ready to pass judgment.
Ndyalvane and Whiteboy were expected to return to court on January 27 of the next year.
