Police have launched a chase of a truck driver after he slipped them at the Lebombo border post yesterday.
This after they discovered their cargo of traditional brooms had a bit more broom-broom than it looked.
A video that has gone viral on social media shows SA Police Service (Saps) officials discovering a stolen Ford Wildtrak Ranger.
According to Saps, the incident occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, December 5, 2020 and they believe that the truck driver was carrying his loot across the border into Mozambique.

The bakkie, with false license plates, was reported stolen from a garage in Sandton in late November this year.
“According to reports, the police at the border were busy with their duties when they noticed a suspicious white One Turner truck with Mozambican license plates loaded with traditional brooms,” Saps said in a statement.
“The members became concerned and convinced that there might be something sinister on the truck. The driver was not available and the members obtained information that he had gone to the SARS offices to complete certain documents required when crossing the border with merchandise ”.

However, at the time, the truck driver was nowhere to be found and police began searching the truck and the cargo, revealing the bakkie.
