Recipients of the Covid-19 Social Relief of Distress Grant have until the end of February next year to launch an appeal for rejected applications.
According to the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa), these are requests made during the extension period, between November 2020 and January 2021.
Meanwhile, Sassa has reminded citizens that R350 grants will only be paid until the end of January 2021.
“Sassa has set a deadline for filing appeals regarding the rejected Covid-19 social distress relief grants.
“The purpose is to strengthen administrative controls in the management of this grant and to give effect to an environment conducive to accounting,” explained the agency.
Recipients can submit their complaints via https // srd.sassa.gov.za or by sending an email to [email protected] on or before February 28, 2021.
“All appeals will be considered and appellants will receive comments,” Sassa said.
Applicants are asked to provide reasons why they believe Sassa’s decision was wrong or provide motivation when filing their complaints.
“All appeals will be dealt with in a fair and transparent manner to ensure that a high level of administrative justice is maintained in the administration of grants.”
However, according to Sassa, rejected applicants who have already submitted appeals do not need to reapply or appeal again.
“Sassa will send you the result of your appeals by SMS. Appellants are requested not to submit attachments when filing their appeals. “
