Republic is an organization that campaigns for Queen Elizabeth II to be replaced by an elected and democratic head of state and the monarchy to be abolished. Graham Smith, the organization’s chief executive, told Express.co.uk that the next generation of royalty does not have the same level of support as Queen Elizabeth II.
Mr Smith said: “Andrew’s disappearance and Prince Harry’s departure, one after another, put the monarchy in a difficult position because it is also in the decade that the Queen is likely to die.
“It just leaves William and Charles at the forefront, but they’re not particularly interesting or inspiring, there’s really no one else.
“There has been some speculation about bringing Edward back to the fore, but most people can’t remember if he’s under 40 and not interested.
“They are running out of the star cast and it doesn’t look like it’s going to get any better.”

He continued: “I think it gives the feeling of a fairly sharp decline of the monarchy as an institution.
“They are running out of people who are willing and able to represent the monarchy and the country
“It shows that after the Queen there is no generation of royalty that doesn’t even come close to mastering the level of support the Queen has.
“The Queen’s children and grandchildren are simply not in the same group as the Queen in terms of levels of support.”
“The truth is that the monarchy’s base of support has remained fairly consistent and there is no reason to expect it to decline.
“A new reign is obviously a change of monarch. However, the duties, which are advised to encourage and warn, would be the same.”
He added: “There may be fewer royals working for a time, but it is only a matter of time before George and his brothers make royal engagements.
“William has already indicated that he sees his grandmother as his role model and he couldn’t have chosen a better one.”
