Kaizer Chiefs vs PWD Bamenda: Kick-off, TV channel, live score, team news and preview

A place in the first round will be up for grabs when Amakhosi and Abakwa Boys meet and the overall winner will meet Primeiro de Agosto.

Kaizer Chiefs will face PWD Bamenda in the second leg of the 2020/21 Caf Champions League preliminary round at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

The Soweto giants are in the driver’s seat in this tie after securing a 1-0 win over their Cameroonian opponents at Limbe Omnisport Stadium last weekend.

Gavin Hunt’s team will advance to the first round if it avoids a loss to Bamenda, but the Abakwa Boys won’t make it any easier for the Glamor Boys.

Bamenda dominated the first leg but was negated by the brilliance of Chiefs captain and inspirational goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune.

Coach David Pagou has already warned that anything is possible as he looks to plot a win over a highly desired Amakhosi team.

Gavin Hunt at Kaizer Chiefs training in September 2020

The Chiefs will be without Serbian shooter Samir Nurkovic and Bafana international Bafana Reeve Frosler, who are still sidelined with injuries.

While defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele has doubts after sustaining a hamstring injury against Bamenda, Hunt will have defenders Yagan Sasman and Kgotso Moleko as options.

Hunt will return to look for seasoned playmaker Lebogang Manyama, who came off the bench in the first leg and caught an assist when Erick Mathoho scored the only goal of the game.

David Pagou, PWD Bamenda, October 2020

Meanwhile, Bamenda will reportedly arrive in South Africa on Saturday morning after solving his visa issues.

The match was originally scheduled to be played on Friday, but the Abakwa Boys asked Caf to postpone the match and it will now be played on Saturday night.

The danger for Pagou’s team is club captain and playmaker Louis Mbah, who was part of the Cameroon team that qualified for the final of the 2019 Caf (Afcon) U23 African Cup of Nations.

Match preview

The Chiefs ended their five-game winless streak in all competitions when they defeated Bamenda in Limbe.

However, Amakhosi are winless in their last three home games, having recorded two losses and a draw.

While Bamenda was playing their first competitive match this season when they faced the Chiefs in the first leg.

The Abakwa Boys were crowned the 2019/20 Cameroon Elite One Championship winners in March 2020, as the season could not be completed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

This will be the second meeting between Chiefs and Bamenda.

The overall winner between the two teams will face former Angolan champion CD Primeiro de Agosto.
