Kaizer Chiefs’ CAF Champions League opponent PWD Bamenda has finally left Cameroon ahead of their preliminary round second leg.
The defending champions Cameroon were due to face the Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium tonight, however visa problems prevented them from arriving on time. The match was subsequently postponed to give the rookies in the CAF Champions League additional time to travel to South Africa.
Bamenda has finally left Cameroon, albeit with only 18 players, before tomorrow’s clash. The Amakhosi have a one-goal lead thanks to Eric Mathoho’s away goal in the first leg last weekend.
Bamenda en route to face Kaizer Chiefs
Bamenda bowed down to hand Kaizer Chiefs a win courtesy of a pass, however the Cameroon team have managed to overcome their travel woes and reach South Africa.
The team departed Douala earlier this afternoon and will arrive in Johannesburg in the early hours of Saturday morning with a stopover at Addis Ababa’s Ethiopia airport.
Bamenda’s late arrival means they will have just over 12 hours to get past the jet lag before taking the field against the Amakhosi at the FNB Stadium.
Action at the FNB Stadium between Kaizer Chiefs and Bamenda begins at 6pm. The winner of the two-legged tie will face Angolan giants Premiero De Agosto for a place in the group stage of this season’s CAF Champions League.
