Fidelity announced that it has expanded its partnership with Vumcam to deploy an extensive surveillance camera system in Gauteng.

The Vumacam cameras are connected through the Vumacam network and monitor the streets of the province to aid in safety and crime prevention.

“The Vumacam cameras are fiber-connected to Vumacam’s advanced Teraco Tier-4 data center and the power is transmitted in real time to Fidelity’s command and control center, where it is safely stored for 30 days,” said Wahl Bartmann. , CEO of Fidelity Services Group.

“Vumacam’s infrastructure ensures world-class technology and data privacy, allowing us to manage footage responsibly and better integrate analysis of criminal incidents flagged across all Vumacam cameras nationwide.”

“We believe that Vumacam’s infrastructure and technology will allow Fidelity to provide optimal service to our customers,” he said.

The two companies have already partnered to deploy Vumacam smart cameras in various southern suburbs of Johannesburg earlier this year.

In the initial project, the Bassonia, Glenvista, Mulbarton and Glenanda areas benefited from 27 strategically placed poles with 27 license plate recognition (LPR) cameras and 54 overview cameras.

“By the end of December, we will have deployed 1,400 LPRs in Gauteng,” said Bartmann.

Address the rise in crime

Bartmann said the expanded partnership is part of a contracted solution for residential communities and commercial clients, including businesses, smallholdings, farms and shopping centers.

Increased coverage will support Fidelity’s broader crime prevention efforts, and the company will see an increase in crime as a catalyst for many customers to become more interested in security solutions.

“Increased crime has prompted many residents to take a more proactive stance regarding local security requirements,” Bartmann said.

“They believe it is necessary to find solutions that coordinate the solutions of law enforcement agencies and private security companies to effectively deal with criminal activity in their areas of residence.”

“The same is true for many of our business customers,” he said.

Vumacam CEO Ricky Croock said the company is excited about the expanded partnership with Fidelity.

“Fighting crime must be done in an organized and collaborative manner, and linking the largest CCTV network for public spaces with the largest security fleet in the country will certainly have a major impact on crime,” he said.

“We appreciate that crime is a concern for all South Africans and this solution adds an additional layer to the security ecosystem, allowing for more efficient proactive monitoring and optimal response protocols.”
