A bank building caught fire after a truck collided with several pedestrians and cars Wednesday night.

Six people, including four pedestrians, were killed when a truck collided with five vehicles in Mokopane, Limpopo, on Wednesday night, provincial transportation authorities said.
The six deceased also include the truck driver and a passenger, who were burned beyond recognition.
A statement from the Limpopo Transport and Community Safety MEC Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya office said one person was seriously injured after narrowly escaping from a burning sedan.
“It is alleged that the truck did not stop at the corner of Thabo Mbeki and Retief streets,” the statement read.

The truck then collided with “five vehicles in front, lost control, and struck and killed four pedestrians before crashing into a bank building,” and the vehicles and the building caught fire on impact.
A person from a burned out sedan was rushed to a nearby hospital after escaping with serious injuries.

“The driver and passenger of the truck were burned in the truck,” the statement read.
MEC Lerule-Ramakhanya expressed its condolences to the families of the people killed in the accident, adding that it was “concerned about the growing number of fatal accidents in which people are even burned beyond recognition.”
As the holiday season approaches, he has urged motorists to drive carefully and always drive within the posted speed limit.
