The long-awaited 190kW Volkswagen Amarok is now available at dealerships, the automaker says. The introduction of the 190 kW model coincides with the 10 years of the German bakkie in South Africa.
Since its launch a decade ago, 37,000 units have been sold, single and double cab. Currently, the model range now consists of the following engines: 2.0 BiTDI 132kW, and the flagship 3.0 V6 TDI 190kW, only in double cab configuration.
The more powerful Amarok is distinguished from the rest of the range by the new 3.0-liter 190 kW TDI V6 engine, which has 25 kW more power and 30 Nm more torque than the outgoing 165 kW derivative.

Volkswagen says the 3.0-liter V6 TDI generates 190kW from 3000 to 4500 r / min and 580 Newton meters of torque from 1400 to 2750 r / min is piped through its standard eight-speed automatic gearbox.
One of the fastest double cab bakkies on the market thanks to available launch control for quick acceleration, the Amarok completes the sprint from zero to 100 km / h in just 7.6 seconds and has a top speed of 207 km / h. The declared average fuel consumption is 9.5 liters per 100 kilometers.
The Amarok has a trick up its sleeve with a supercharging function that powers the bakkie at a maximum power of 200kW for 10 seconds, it is the most powerful bakkie on sale in South Africa at the moment.
Off-road ABS and stability control enhance the Amarok’s safety features and the four disc brakes throughout give the Amarok V6 190kW enormous stopping power.

A three-year or 100,000 km manufacturer’s warranty, a five-year or 90,000 km service plan, and a six-year anti-corrosion warranty are standard. The service interval is 15,000 km.
