Williams Formula 1 driver George Russell was announced as the replacement for 2020 world champion Lewis Hamilton at this weekend’s Sakhir Grand Prix. Hamilton will not compete after testing positive for Covid-19.

“A big thank you also to Mercedes for putting their faith in me. Obviously, no one can replace Lewis, but I will give my all for the team in his absence from the moment I get in the car,” Russell said.

Jack Aitken, Williams’ reserve driver, will race alongside Nicholas Latifi and make his F1 debut.
