The manager described Liverpool’s performance and result as one of the best in Europe at the club full time. Kelleher was only part of the story: Neco Williams proved to be a great point, while Curtis Jones gave his best performance in a Liverpool jersey, showing incredible maturity.
The culmination of factors led to a victory that now offers Liverpool crucial respite. Next week’s trip to Denmark is a game that can engage players on Klopp’s terms. The competition itself can be parked until what is essentially the beginning of spring.
More importantly, however, there are four clear days before the Wolves at Anfield, a stadium with 2,000 fans to offer a crumb of life support. This team remains on life support, but it never fails to remind us of its ability to fight.
Another Liverpool story was written tonight, and Caoimhin Kelleher may find that it has a huge impact on how the season unfolds.
