Nelson Mandela Bay Township ANC Councilor and former ANC Youth League Vice President Andile Lungisa was paroled and will be released from prison on Tuesday.

In 2018, Lungisa was found guilty and sentenced to three years in prison, of which one year was suspended, for assault with the intent to cause serious bodily injury.

He was convicted of breaking a glass jug on the head of Public Prosecutor Rano Kayser during a council fight in 2016.

“This placement on probation means that Lungisa will serve the remainder of the sentence in the community corrections system, in which he is expected to meet a specific set of conditions and will be subject to supervision until the sentence expires,” the Department said. Correctional Services Spokesperson Singabakho Nxumalo.
