Public Enterprise Minister Pravin Gordhan is expected to take the hot seat on the commission of inquiry into the state capture on Monday.
Gordhan will answer questions from fired SARS commissioner Tom Moyane.
The commission announced Sunday that it will hear Moyane’s cross-examination of the minister.
The commission will also hear testimony from Athol Williams, partner of BAIN SA.

The cross-examination comes after Gordhan failed to appear before the commission’s chairman, Supreme Court Vice President Raymond Zondo.
In August, when he was scheduled to appear, Gordhan said he had appointments with the cabinet, which left Zondo furious.
He asked the minister’s lawyer, Nonhlanhla Mbatha, what could be more important than appearing before the commission.
At the time, Zondo complained that the commission was marred by delays.
Appearing
“… mere Cabinet commitments cannot be more important than appearing before this committee. There should be more than mere Cabinet commitments. This committee has a very limited time to finish its work and Cabinet commitments are work like the work of all compromises, “Zondo said.
Moyane was granted permission to question Gordhan on whether, in bringing criminal charges against the minister, he acted maliciously, was motivated in whole or in part by the state’s capture or sought to further it, or was abusing legal process . .
Gordhan will be questioned whether, as a SARS commissioner, Moyane sought to advance the state capture project and whether Moyane’s “personal goals” as commissioner included advancing the state capture project.
Moyane’s attorneys approached Zondo last year for permission, claiming that Gordhan’s testimony against Moyane was “unsubstantiated” and not for the sake of justice.
In 2016, Moyane filed criminal charges against Gordhan regarding the payment of former Commissioner Ivan Pillay’s pension.
The matter was later dropped.
