The mystery surrounding Liverpool midfielder Thiago deepened a bit more on Saturday.
There seemed to be good news about the 29-year-old last week when he was photographed at the club’s Axa Training Center, dressed in Reds gear.
But he was not included in Liverpool’s call-up for the Brighton draw yesterday and manager Jurgen Klopp later confirmed that he will not be available for the next two games either.
Thiago has not kicked a ball for the Premier League champions since Richarlison’s entry into the draw with Everton in October, which was only his second appearance with the club following a play by Bayern Munich in September.
Since Thiago to Liverpool went the Moving on from the summer saga, Anfield club fans are desperate to see it as much as possible this season, and as soon as possible.
But some fans seem pessimistic about the prognosis for his unspecified injury. Here’s how some reacted to Klopp’s comments yesterday:
He’s definitely not out for the season, as some fans have speculated.
We know this because he was actually in the building to train last week and, more importantly, he was dressed for training.
Virgil van Dijk is out for the season and will not be sporting Liverpool’s training team anytime soon, but there is certainly a bit of confusion as to when Thiago will return and fans cannot be blamed for their concern.
In other news, Graeme Souness says there is ‘an obvious criticism’ of the Leeds United midfielder
