A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his 54-year-old partner in the Ga-Motsepe section of the Tafelkop village, Limpopo.

Ivy Chikane was found by her brother Friday night, lying in a pool of blood and “severely wounded to her face in the courtyard outside her room,” said police spokesman Col. Moatshe Ngoepe.

Ngoepe said the brother allegedly broke the door of the burglar in the deceased’s room and found the suspect asleep.

He said the suspect later left the scene and went home.

“Police and emergency services were summoned to the scene and responded quickly,” Ngoepe said.

Chikane was certified dead by emergency services.

“The police began with initial investigations, which led to the arrest of the alleged boyfriend. The motive for this murder is not yet clear at this stage, but domestic violence cannot be ruled out,” said Ngoepe.

The suspect is expected to appear soon in the Magistrates Court of Motetema.
