SANDF members could be tied down to stop truck attacks.

- Police Minister Bheki Cele says that, if necessary, the country is in a position to deploy the army to reinforce the workforce and deal with incessant attacks and the burning of trucks.
- There would be a deployment if the Commissioner of the National Police, General Kehla Sitole, and the head of the SANDF, during an assessment, felt it was necessary.
- Trucks have been bombarded with gasoline in different parts of the country in recent weeks.
Police Minister Bheki Cele says that, if necessary, the country is in a position to deploy the army to reinforce the workforce and deal with the violent truck attacks. This could lead to soldiers being deployed to hotspots across the country where trucks have caught fire.
Cele spokesperson Lirandzu Themba told News24 that Cele was recorded that army deployment was an option.

“Commissioner of the national police [General Kehla Sitole] You will have to interact with the head of the SANDF and after an assessment that there is a need, there will be a deployment. Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours we have managed to bring stability to the roads due to the increased police presence, ”said Themba.
Themba said that if the situation worsens, they will have to consider “bringing in some reinforcements and increasing the boots on the ground.”
