Bulls and Juandre Kruger separate again

The Bulls’ bulging wardrobe of younger locks has convinced Jake White, the franchise’s director of rugby, to part ways with Juandre Kruger.

A “mutual agreement” was reached, the franchise confirmed in a statement on Friday.

Despite a great deal of cleaning during the harsh lockdown period, White initially decided to keep the 35 year old Springbok padlock on the books as a seasoned presence.

But the appearance of Ruan Nortje and the promising form shown by others like Jason Jenkins, Walt Steenkamp and Sintu Manjezi have convinced the hierarchy that depth in the position is enough.

The Bulls also have Jan Uys on the broader playing team, although he has yet to appear.

“Juandre has always been the most professional. He has been an exemplary player in terms of his work ethic, dedication and passion for his craft. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” said Bulls CEO Edgar Rathbone.

Kruger, who rejoined the Bulls along with fellow veteran Morne Steyn late last year, also expressed his gratitude.

“I will always cherish the time I spend in the Bulls jersey and would like to wish the players, staff and management of Loftus all the best in the future. I would also like to give a huge thank you to everyone who has helped shape me as a player and as a person “.

In all, he appeared 91 times for the Bulls and Blue Bulls.
