The eNCA is investigating whether a mini-closure in the province could soon become a reality.
Last week, the Western Cape issued a hotspot alert for Garden Route, following an alarming increase in cases.
The numbers are still increasing, and there are now more active cases in George and Knysna than during the peak of the first wave.
Now, a hotspot alert has been issued for the city of Cape Town.
“We call it a resurgence once we get past 20 percent growth in numbers week after week. It is up 52.1 percent in the last week in the Western Cape, “said Prime Minister Alan Winde.
