Liverpool can qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League with two games to spare on Wednesday when they face Atalanta.
With half of the group stage matches completed, the Premier League champions have a 100% record and haven’t conceded a goal.
If Liverpool defeat Atalanta, they will qualify for the round of 16 with two group matches remaining and give Jurgen Klopp a chance to use the last two matches to rotate his team.
A victory places Liverpool with 12 points and puts them in pole position to lead the group, giving them a favorable draw for the next round.
The victory over Atalanta would mean that only Ajax can catch them in the race for first place and, to do so, they would have to win the remaining three games, including a trip to Anfield.

Ajax would also need Midtjylland to pull off a big upset by defeating the Merseyside team in their reverse match after a 2-0 loss at Anfield in October.
Liverpool’s remaining Champions League group matches:
- Atalanta (h) – November 25
- Ajax (home) – December 1
- Midtjylland (a) – December 9
