The South African Meteorological Service (Saws) warned that scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday afternoon.
The meteorological office said thunderstorms will be associated with damaging winds, hail and intense lightning.
Weather conditions can result in possible hail causing localized damage to vehicles and strong winds that can cause localized damage to infrastructure and settlements, both formal and informal, as well as localized injuries due to flying debris. Severe lightning strikes can also occur resulting in localized injuries, fires and damage to infrastructure, Saws said.
The weather service advised people outside to seek shelter immediately, but not under a tree, telephone or power lines.
