Audi’s latest S7 Sportback is now available in South Africa.

It has an S-model design language.

The power of 331 kW and 600 Nm of torque is derived from a 3.0-liter turbocharged engine.

Audi is adding so many new models before 2020 draws to a close. The German automaker debuted its Q3 Sportback and updated the Q7 to the local market in recent weeks.

The latest model to land in South Africa is a high-performance four-door coupe, the S7. It joins the A7 55 TFSI derivative and is the most powerful A7 until the RS7 arrives in 2021.

The S7 uses the brand’s well-known 3.0-liter V6 turbocharged TFSI engine producing 331kW and 600Nm. The transmission is controlled by an eight-speed tiptronic gearbox and power is sent to all four wheels. Top speed is governed at 250 km / h and acceleration is set to 4.6 seconds.

The price is linked to R1 500 500, including all taxes.

Style-wise, the S7 features wide sills and a rear diffuser with four tailpipe trims. S trims in dark chrome and aluminum on the radiator grille slats, front louver, side air intake, exterior mirrors and rear diffuser.

The S7 is equipped as standard with HD Matrix LED headlights and 21-inch wheels in an S-specific wheel design.

“Clean Power” – Gliding for Up to 40 Seconds: The 48 Volt Mild Hybrid System

The S7’s V6 engine benefits from a 48-volt mild hybrid system (MHEV) to improve fuel efficiency. Audi says. The 48-volt MHEV system consists of a belt-start alternator (BAS) and a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 10 Ah.

The BAS is connected to the crankshaft. During deceleration, it can recover up to 8 kW of power, which it then stores in the lithium-ion battery.

When the driver accelerates again, the BAS reacts instantly by restarting the engine. MHEV technology makes it possible to start / stop operation from as low as 22 km / h, says the brand.

Adaptive air suspension

The version with air suspension with adjustable damping appears on the vehicle as an explicitly comfort-oriented alternative. It can be set in three modes and includes a “lift” position for rough roads and automatic leveling.

In “automatic” mode, says Audi, the bodywork is lowered another 10 millimeters (at speeds of 120 km / h) upwards, and in “dynamic” mode the vehicle always remains at this low ride height.

The driver can adapt the sport differential control strategy by driving selection. Five different modes are offered including “comfort”, “automatic”, “dynamic”, “efficiency” and “individual”.
