Amakhosi midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo would like nothing more than Kaizer Chiefs to score three points when they take on fellow Soweto residents Swallows FC on Tuesday night in a crucial DStv Premiership match at Volkswagen Dobsonville Stadium.
The Chiefs will travel across town to face historic foes Swallows a few days after drawing 2-2 with the Golden Arrows in another league clash. The swallows come into the game after a 0-0 draw at home against TS Galaxy.
While Swallows is one of five teams that have yet to lose a league game this season, Ngcobo is up to the challenge of facing them and has one goal in mind. “For us it is important to add three points to gain confidence and faith in the future,” he reveals. We are facing a strong team that has not lost this season. We have to go there and fight for victory ”.
True to Swallows ‘current form, the midfield dynamo who has started all four of the Chiefs’ league games this season doesn’t expect their hosts to give them an easy run Tuesday night. “We hope they come out and attack,” he adds. “I felt like we were unlucky against Arrows. We were supposed to win the match, but we played a draw, we may not have been clinical enough going into goal, but these are things we can improve on. I know we will, ”promises the young midfielder.
Having played seven games this season in all competitions and after a positive personal performance on Saturday against Arrows, Ngcobo is not concerned that he is the target of rival teams. “It gives me positive energy if the opponents focus on me,” he says. I don’t push myself by thinking too much of anything. I stay focused and will keep going out and playing for the team and the badge. ”
