Vodacom suffers from network downtime in South Africa, and many mobile users are unable to connect to the network at all.
“Vodacom is aware of a problem that affects the connectivity of some of its customers,” said the operator in response to complaints on social networks.
“Our technicians are working hard to solve the problem. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. “
Information of DownDetector shows that the problems started around 2:30 PM on Monday and were still increasing at the time of writing.
Vodacom subscribers across the country are complaining about data connectivity issues and user feedback suggests that other mobile services are also affected.
56% of DownDetector reports cite problems with mobile phones, 30% say they do not have mobile Internet and 13% say they are experiencing a total blackout of services.
Many Vodacom subscribers took to social media to complain about the operator’s network problems.
This follows after Vodacom experienced similar network downtime on November 13, and many users complained of a similar loss of connectivity across the country.
“Is Vodacom back? I don’t have a network ”a Vodacom subscriber he said on Twitter.
“There is no service on multiple Vodacom devices at our offices located in the Menlyn, Pretoria area. Is there a problem? ” asked another Twitter user.
In one case, a Vodacom user said that his SIM reflected the label “Emergency calls only”, without any Vodacom mobile services being accessible.

MyBroadband asked Vodacom for a comment on the network outage.
The operator said it was aware of the problem and was working to restore services as soon as possible.
Update – 17:12 on Monday
Vodacom resolved the issue, the company said in an updated statement.
“Vodacom has identified and fixed a failure with a core network element at one of our sites, which affected data connectivity to certain customers,” he said.
“The affected services are currently being restored. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused. “
