- Shepherd Bushiri says his conscience is clear after the issuance of three arrest warrants for different rape cases.
- Bushiri, who fled the country to Malawi a week ago, said the orders are part of the process to “go after him.”
- The orders refer to two different cases notified in 2018 and a third in 2020.
Self-proclaimed prophet and fugitive Shepherd Bushiri says the news that three arrest warrants have been issued against him is neither shocking nor surprising.
In a statement shared on his Facebook page, which his spokesman Ephraim Nyondo also confirmed to News24, Bushiri said the arrest warrants were part of a “larger crusade to try to pursue my name in the media by a team of white policemen, in particular the Halcones “.
News24 previously reported that on November 19 the Pretoria Magistrates Court issued three arrest warrants for different rape cases. They refer to two different cases, allegedly registered in 2018, and another in 2020.

The leader of the Church of the Enlightened Christian Gathering said he had opened an extortion and corruption case against the officers, who allegedly tried to extort 10 million rand from him.
He said that nothing has happened to the police and that they have now embarked on issuing arrest warrants against him. “For the record, I reiterate and confirm that the same police officers are the same police officers who arrested me in February 2019 (sic). As it is not enough, they are again the same cops who arrested me in October 2020, and again, without any official confirmation, I bet they are the same cops.
advice
“I have been informed, advice I accept, that rape cases are not handled by the Hawks, but by the designated unit of the South African Police (SAPS) known as Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Crimes.”
Bushiri argued that unless such officers were excluded from the cases involving him, he did not believe that he would get a fair trial in South Africa because they were driven by revenge rather than justice.
“That is why these new arrest warrants are neither a shock nor a surprise because they only confirm every detail that I shared regarding the streaks of injustice that I left in South Africa.
“But above all, as a revered man of God, a husband and father who understands that rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything I believe and defend.
“As eager as I am to clear my name, I unequivocally refuse to feed the media spectacle created by white police officers who bow down to cover up their crimes. My conscience is very clear and will remain so,” Bushiri said.
