Five suspects have been arrested in Pretoria on suspicion of involvement in the murder of the 50-year-old Prince Lethukuthula Zulu, who died.

The body of Prince Lethukuthula Zulu was found by security guards at his home at the Graceland Residential Complex in Northworld on November 6, 2020.

The suspects, four women, ranging in age from 27 to 42, and a 32-year-old man, were arrested Friday night.

“This is the result of a meticulous investigation and hard work by the provincial investigation team who, since the incident was reported at Honeydew SAPS about two weeks ago, were able to gather bits of information that saw how the initial investigation was being conducted. . changed to a murder case.

“SAPS forensic scientists removed critical evidence from the crime scene that could easily have been missed. The evidence processed helped the investigation team to establish a possible link between the suspects and the crime, ”said police spokesman Brigadier Mathapelo Peters.

According to Peters, one of the suspects was found in possession of different substances, which were seized for further investigation due to the possibility that the deceased and his business partner had been drugged before they stole cash and other valuables. of its place.

Several items suspected of theft were seized from the suspects’ residences.

“The investigation continues as police anticipate possibly uncovering more evidence to build a strong case that can be upheld in court. The investigation could also help establish whether the suspects could have committed previous similar crimes in which the victims were drugged and robbed, ”Peters said.

The suspects are expected to appear in Randburg Magistrates Court on Monday. They face a murder and robbery charge.

The prince was the Zulu king Goodwill Zwelithini and the eldest son of Queen Sibongile MaDlamini and was next in line to the Zulu throne.
